Dayle Charlotte Hoxie

Dayle Charlotte Hoxie, of Centerville, passed away at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, March 26 at the age of 73. Born in Windsor, VT and raised in Taunton, MA, she was the daughter of the Frank and Florence Ward.  Dayle attended Taunton High School, where she met her husband Steve. After marriage, they moved to Cape Cod where she raised her family in Centerville. For almost 52 years the beloved wife of Stephen E. Hoxie and the cherished mother of son Stephen E. Hoxie, Jr. of Centerville and daughter Shauna Childs and son-in-law Peter Childs of Marstons Mills. Also surviving are her Brother, Frank Ward and wife Vivian of Williamsburg, MA.  Dayle was adoring “Nana” to Madison and Emma Childs of Marstons Mills and Jenna and Jake Hoxie of Marstons Mills. She also leaves behind many caring relatives and friends. She worked as a teacher’s aide at Hyannis West Elementary for 9 years before working at Barnstable Probate Court as the Assistant Registrar. After retiring she dedicated her time to her grandchildren and enjoying the outdoors. Spending as much time as she could at the beach, on the boat, collecting sea shells on Cape Cod and the shores of Jupiter, Florida. Friends and family were Dayle’s love and joy; whether vacationing with her husband, golfing with the Par-T-Club, attending yoga or simply enjoying nature. We want to let her know that she did and amazing job and we wish her a safe journey. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy and her love for life. She worked very hard all her life, up until the very end. She made a huge difference in the lives of many. She leaves us rich in memories. Dayle requested a private ceremony with her family. Her family wishes to thank all who cared for her over the past year.
