Diane L. Messaline, 72, of Bridgewater died peacefully on Aug. 31. Diane grew up in Bridgewater and was the loving daughter of the late Victor “Turk” Messaline and his late wife Emma (Resmini) Messaline.
She was a graduate of Bridgewater High School, Class of 1961. Diane worked at Rexall Drugs for a short period and for Bridgewater State University for over 30 years. She loved her job at BSU and was a respected member of the maintenance department.
Diane was not shy about her opinions, especially when it came to politics and her beloved Democrat Party. She enjoyed defending the most liberal of ideas with cunningness and a sense of humor, and was very active in local politics. She loved reading mystery novels, attending yard sales , finding a good bargain, and most importantly being with her family and friends.
She lived with her Aunt Jal and would be her longtime friend, companion, and caretaker.
Diane was the loving twin sister of David J. Messaline and his wife Jeanne of Braintree and “Auntie” of Lesley A. Flanagan of Braintree and Rachel A. Silva of N. Attleboro. Great Aunt of Emma, Christian, Justin, Elizabeth, and also survived by many loving relatives and friends. She will be missed by her longtime companion Bert Cole of N. Easton.
Funeral from the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. Bridgewater on Wed. Sept. 9th at 9:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 103 Center St. Bridgewater at 10:00am and burial will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tues. evening from 4-8.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to The Diane L. Messaline Scholarship Fund, C/O Bridgewater Savings Bank, 14 Main St., Bridgewater MA 02324. The fund will benefit students of parents who work for Bridgewater State University.
