Dominic J. Creonte, 90 of Harwich passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 21. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Deveaux) Creonte.
Dominic was born June 19, 1925 to Carmine and Christine Creonte (DeSisto) and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Waltham where he was an All-Star Center and Captain of the football team. He served in WWII as a Corporal in the Marine Corps, and saw action in the Pacific at the battle of Iwo Jima and occupation duty in Nagasaki, Japan.
After the war, he started his own construction company, building homes in the Waltham area. He bought land in Eastham and constructed the Route 6 Motel and the Eastham Motel next to town hall. He and Helen moved to the cape in 1966 and started building homes around the lower cape area until his retirement in 1984. Dominic was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Joan of Arc Church in Orleans and served on various Eastham town committees.
Dom was the loving father of Jane (Robert) Tucker, James (Karen) Creonte, Robert Creonte (Elisabeth), Marie (Roger) Hanson, Paul Creonte (Kitrina), Laura Creonte Franz and Mark Creonte (Robin) and five grandchildren. He was the brother of Natalie Durkin, Santina Lombardi, Anthony, William and the late Michael and Augustine.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, Rte. 28 West Harwich at 11 am on Wednesday, January 27. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Harwich.
