Donald F. Moriarty of Harwich, Port, MA passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in Rockville, MD. He was 89 years old.Born in Holyoke, MA, he entered the Navy at age 17 and was stationed aboard the USS Panamint during WWII. After serving his country, he married his high school sweetheart, Ann McDonald. He then began a 43-year civilian career working at various Army installations including: the Springfield Armory, the Rock Island Arsenal, and the Picatinny Arsenal. He was the recipient of thirteen awards for his accomplishments throughout his esteemed career.He became a resident of Harwich Port, MA in 1994 along with his wife, who preceded him in death in 2003. He loved living on Cape Cod and enjoyed his many carpentry projects and an occasional round of golf. He also liked a good John Wayne movie, watching the Celtics, or a trip to Friendly's for his favorite maple walnut ice cream.He will be greatly missed by his eight children; Kathleen Denicourt of Quebec, Canada, Frances Henry of Appleton, WI, Donald F. Jr. of Brookfield, WI, Barbara Limone of Byram, NJ, Ann Keogh of Tuscaloosa, AL, Laura Brown of Lafayette, NJ, James of Bentonville, AR, and Robert of Washington, DC; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.May his lifelong devotion to his family and country serve as an example for all who knew and loved him.A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 11 at 9:00 AM at the Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Home, West Harwich, MA, (508) 432-0593, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Church in West Harwich, MA. He will be interred, along side his wife, in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA with military honors.
