Gregory A. Morris, 62, of West Barnstable, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 9th at Cape Cod Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his father Raymond; wife Sheila (McKeon) and their three children: Devan, Brittan and Dylan; his brothers Geoff and Gary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Greg was born in Providence, RI to Jane and Raymond Morris. He spent most of his childhood years in Atlanta, GA before moving to Dennis, MA where he was a 3-season athlete at D-Y high school. It was here that he pursued his passion for baseball suiting up as one of D-Y high school’s most talented catchers. In addition to playing collegiate baseball as a catcher for Southeastern Massachusetts University (now UMass Dartmouth), Greg was proud to play in the Cape Cod Baseball League for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. His talent, skill, and passion earned him a contract with the Houston Astros that he declined to start his family and begin his career as a successful medical sales manager. He never lost his love for the game and redirected his passion towards both his childrens’ athletics and his wife’s ventures. Greg was a loving and devoted husband who put his family before himself. He was each of their biggest fan, most avid supporter, and unwavering source of encouragement. Selfless, always positive, and full of life, he instilled a light and determination in each of his children whose success was the most important thing to him. His greatest pride was his family. Greg was a friend to all, steadfast supporter, and always a smiling face—that is how he will be remembered.
