A beloved husband, father, grandfather and son, Jack Burnie, 61, of Harwich, passed away at his home on Monday, Feb.1. His loving family was by his side as he concluded his courageous 11-year battle with cancer.Born in 1954, Jack attended Stoughton schools and Northeastern University. In 1972, he met the love of his life, Sylvia Cooper. The two were married in 1975 and had two children, whom they raised in Harwich. In 1982, Jack founded Sep-Tech, Inc. with his brother, David, growing it into a successful business. He later became a founding partner and manager at Cape Cod Stone & Masonry, growing the company into a profitable business before retiring.In his later years, Jack's granddaughters became the light of his life. He loved reading to them, playing with them and indulging them with with treats. He was a devout Christian, and spent much time studying the teachings of the bible. Jack is survived by his wife, Sylvia; parents, Richard and Jean; daughter Kristen and her husband Joe; son Nathaniel and his partner Mary; siblings Richard, David, Jean and Kathy; granddaughters Antonia, Siena and Adelaide; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Feb. 5 from 4-7pm at Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 260 Main St., West Harwich.
