Lena (Matulis) Stitilis, 86, of Falmouth, formerly of Brockton, passed away at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital on August 19, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph Stitilis, mother of the late Michael Stitilis and daughter of the late Joseph and Valeria (Cirbulenas) Matulis.
Lena graduated from Brockton High School and went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Education at Bridgewater State University. She worked as a Teacher and Reading Specialist in the Brockton Public School System for many years until her retirement. In her earlier years, she played first violin with the Brockton Symphony Orchestra. She was a parishioner and member of the Women’s Guild at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in North Falmouth. She was an avid golfer with the Ballymeade “Nine Holers” and was active in winter bowling leagues in Falmouth.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt and will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
Lena is survived by her daughter Regina (Stitilis) Duda and husband Martin of California, 2 grandchildren, Olivia and Will Stitilis of Connecticut, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home 74 Algonquin Ave. (Rte 151) Mashpee, on Monday August 24, 2015 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Seton Church 481 Quaker Rd. Falmouth on Tuesday August 25, 2015 at 10:00am. Burial will be held on Wednesday August 26, 2015 in Calvary Cemetery in Brockton at 11:00am.
