Marjorie Anne (Murphy) Dickey, 86, of Lowell formerly of East Falmouth & Chelmsford, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, just one day before her 87th birthday. She was born in Cambridge to Richard F. And Mary Elizabeth (Cavanaugh) Murphy on January 21, 1929. She was a 1947 graduate of Belmont High School.
Marjorie married her sweetheart, Henry C. Dickey to whom she was married for 59 years. He predeceased her in 2009. They raised their family in Chelmsford and moved to Falmouth in 1974. In recent years, she made home with her daughter in Lowell. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and close friends. Marjorie was very close to her cousins and they were always a source of strength and great love throughout her life. She also loved attending her class reunions and reminiscing about old times with her former schoolmates.
She is survived by her children: Robert C. Dickey and William G. Dickey, both of Falmouth, Carolyn M. Dickey of Lowell; 3 granddaughters: Caitlin & Colleen Dickey, and Courtney Nichols; and several nieces and nephews. She will be especially missed by her dear friend of 77 years, Elizabeth Cullen of Bedford, MA. She was the beloved mother of the late Elaine and Donna Jean Dickey. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Gerald, Richard F. and John Murphy, Helen Murphy Cahill, Madeleine Murphy, and Walter Murphy.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Jan 26 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 511 Main Street, Falmouth. Burial to follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
