Norma May Goodnow passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 8, 2016 at her home in Bridgewater, MA. Norma was born on May 5, 1928 in New Berlin, NY. She grew up in New Berlin, NY and graduated from high school there. She went on to Providence Bible Institute in Providence, RI where she received a degree in music. On August 26, 1950, Norma Whitmore married Russell Goodnow and they have lived in Tennessee, New York, Rhode Island and now live in Bridgewater, MA. In the 1970’s, Norma was the organist and choir director for the Bridgewater Baptist Church. She also taught music at the Happiness Is Preschool in Middleboro, MA. Norma worked at Plymouth Home National Bank in Brockton, MA and then at the Hospital Trust in Providence, RI until she retired in 1993. Norma also enjoyed knitting for her children and grandchildren and her great granddaughters they still enjoy her beautiful sweaters. Norma also enjoyed pottery, gardening and shopping in gift shops on Cape Cod. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very proud of each and every one of them. After retirement, Norma truly enjoyed sailing with her husband, Russell Goodnow on Narragansett Bay and spending weekends on the sailboat at Potters Cove.
Norma Goodnow is survived by her husband, Russell Goodnow, daughters Carole Bender and Diane Brewster, grandchildren, Jessica Beerman, Melissa Murdock, Rachel Brewster and Bradford Brewster. Also by her great granddaughters, Madeline Beerman, Iris Beerman and Sarah Beerman.
