CENTERVILLE -Odessa C. Farnham(Chase), 81, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, September 11, 2015, after a long battle with Alzheimer's.Odessa comes from a long line of native Cape Codders, she was born in Hyannis, MA on July 22, 1934 and grew up in Chatham, MA, the daughter of Victor and E. Constance (Eldredge) Chase. She graduated from Chatham High school and attended UMass Amherst where she met her husband, the late John R. Farnham, they were married for 53 years, until his death in 2006. They raised their family in Centerville, MA, where she was a Preschool teacher at Cookies Preschool, she was an active member of the Hyannis Junior Women's Club, Centerville Historical Society, and enjoyed playing golf as a member of the Cummaquid Golf Club. They later moved to Marion, MA, where she continued her career of teaching Preschool at the Loft School in Marion, as well as continuing her love of golf at the Kittansett Country Club. Odessa enjoyed collecting and selling antiques with her husband John, her special interests were gardening, quilting, painting, and collecting and repairing dolls with her "Doll Club" friends. Both Odessa and John later enjoyed winters in Englewood, FL where they remained active playing golf, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.Odessa is survived by her sister, Martha (Chase) Fairbanks and her husband Randall of Chatham, MA. Her children, Kim Farnham and her husband Eric Furnholm of New Haven VT, Susan Farnham Fuller, Jonathan Farnham and his wife Holly, David Farnham and his wife Whitney all of Centerville, MA. Her Grandchildren, Anastasia Barrett, and her late husband John, Cooper and Chase Fuller, Jonathan and Avery Farnham, Christopher and Ashleigh Farnham, Whitney and Stephen Furnholm. Her great grandchildren Asher, Allaura, and William Barrett.A celebration of her life will be held at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main St., Hyannis, MA On Saturday, October 17, 2015, 1:00pm. to 4:00.pm. Burial will be private.Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org, on behalf of Odessa Farnham.
