Peter G. Maxon Sr. ,75, of Truro and Naples, FL, lost a two year battle with cancer on September 7th, peacefully passing away at home surrounded by his loving family.
Pete was born in Norwood, MA on February 5, 1940, graduated from Norwood High School, class of 1957 and earned his Associates Degree in Business at Johnson and Wales College in Providence, RI.
He served his country proudly during the Vietnam Conflict in the United States Navy as an air crewman in an S2 squadron on the USS Midway. He retired from military service as a Staff Sergeant in the Massachusetts Army National Guard.
Pete owned an automotive repair business, was an On-Call Firefighter and EMT in the town of Norfolk for many years. He then set off on a life as a Sea Captain with his First Mate Joan where he was involved in the whale watch industry with the Portuguese Princess and Dolphin Fleets in Provincetown, MA.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joan, his sister Joyce and her husband Peter Kodis of Mattapoisett, brothers Robert and his wife Marie of Kingston, TN and Charlie and his wife Carol of Norwood. He is also survived by his five children, Peter Jr. and his wife Anne of Plainville, Kim and her husband Doug Forman of Peabody, Alan Kannally of Walpole, Jan Kannally and wife Linda of Douglas and Bill Kannally and his wife Lisa of Wrentham as well as fifteen grandchildren.
