Richard A. Butler of East Bridgewater died in his home surrounded by
his family January 21, 2016 at the age of 66.
Mr. Butler was born in Brockton, son of the late Marjorie (Latham) and Arthur J. Butler.
Richard was raised and educated in Brockton, graduating from Brockton
High School in 1967. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for National
Grid retiring in 2003. Richard joined the Navy in 1967 and did two
tours in Vietnam aboard the USS Hancock and USS Shangri-La and was
honorably discharged in 1974. He was a past member of the Standish
Sportsman Club, the Lions Club, and active member of the Commercial
Club. He enjoyed the ocean, boating and fishing with his son DJ and
family. He enjoyed watching Patriots games and Nascar races, camping at
the track in Loudon, trips to Aruba and Naples, FL, but enjoyed nothing
more than spending time with his beloved family and friends.
Husband of Christine "Tina" (Gregory) Butler. Father of Richard "DJ" Butler and
his wife Amanda of East Bridgewater and Stacy McCarthy and her
husband Michael of Bridgewater. Grandfather of Kaitlin and Khloe Butler
and Luke, Liam and Lily McCarthy. Brother of Carol Kelleher and her
husband Robert of Warren, MA.
Visiting hours in the Prophett-Chapman Cole & Gleson Funeral Home 98 Bedford Street Bridgewater Monday 4-7pm.
