Sebastian R. Pina, Sr., 91, of Marstons Mills, died peacefully after a long illness on February 8, 2016 at Cape Cod Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Doris (Smith) Pina who died in 2013.
Sebastian was born and raised in Marstons Mills, Massachusetts. A graduate of Barnstable High School, Sebastian enlisted in the Army and is a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. Upon retirement he opened his own landscaping company.
He was an active member of the American Legion, Post 206 in Centerville, where he served as commander and bartender during that time. He was also a member of the VFW in Mashpee.
Sebastian was a great cook, loved music, gardening, going to Home Depot, BJ’s and Stop and Shop and loved taking road trips.
He was a devout Christian and was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
He is survived by his children, Robert Lomba of TX, Donna Pereira of FL, John Pina of Centerville, William Pina of Mashpee, Kenneth Pina of Hyannis, Doris Soares of RI, Holly Galvam and Cathleen Filkins both of Hyannis. He was predeceased by his son Sebastian Pina, Jr. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held on from 4 to 7 pm on Monday, February 15th at the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road, Marstons Mills, MA A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Tuesday at Our Lady of the Assumption, 76 Wianno Ave., Osterville, MA Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
