North Falmouth, MA - William Ernest Bosselman,Jr., known as "Ernie", 92, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at home from vascular dementia. He leaves his wife of 58 years, Barbara L. (Blanchard) Bosselman.
Born in Dedham, MA, Ernie was a graduate of Dedham High School and earned a degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University. He served in the Army Signal Corp during World War II and was a registered professional Engineer in the state of Connecticut. Ernie retired from Gibson Engineering Company in Norwood, MA and Plainville Electrical Products Company in Bristol, CT where he was manager of the Engineering Department. Ernie and his wife lived in Farmington, CT where they raised their four children. They moved to North Falmouth in 1992.
Ernie was an Amateur Radio Operator (W1DO) and received many awards throughout his radio career. He was a member of the ARRL, DX Century Club, Greater Hartford Amateur Radio Association, Falmouth Amateur Radio Association, and was a past president of the Quarter Century Wireless Association (Yankee Chapter). An avid skier, he loved New Hampshire and was a member of the Mt. Washington Observatory and The New England Ski Museum.
He is survived by his wife and four children: Stephen H. Bosselman of North Falmouth; David T. Bosselman and wife Julie E. of North Falmouth; Jane M. Mignone and husband James A. of Barrington, RI; Julie A. Gray and husband John G. of Wellesley, MA; and grandchildren, Lindsey E. and Natalie A. Bosselman, Matthew A. and Mary A. Mignone, and Melissa L. and Sara C. Gray; brother-in-laws, Dr. Duncan C. Blanchard (Julia) of Albany NY and Norman H. Blanchard (Margaret) of Willow Street, PA, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Shirley A. Smallfield.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26 at the First Congregational Church, 68 Main St, Falmouth. Burial is private.
