William W. Wilder (Sr.), of Bridgewater, formerly of Roslindale, beloved husband of the late Patricia Duggan Wilder, son of the late Wallace and Mary Helen Browne Wilder, died on September 7, 2015, after a long illness. He was 74.
Devoted father to daughter Kathy and son-in-law Wayne Curley of Boston, daughter Barbara and son-in-law Edmond O’Connor of Harwich, son Bill and daughter-in-law Maura Wilder of Needham, and daughter Jen and son-in-law Barry Heney of Bridgewater.
Adored Papa to grandchildren Tricia, Claire, Wayne, and Matthew; Michelle, Trisha, Elizabeth, Eddie, Joey, and Rosie; William, Daniel, Kevin, and Timothy; Sabrina, Jack, Kaylee, and Caitlyn; as well as 8 great-grandchildren.
He is survived by sister, Nancy McCormack and brother, Richard Wilder. He was predeceased by brother, Edward Wilder.
Bill is veteran of the United States Navy; a former commodore of the Wollaston Yacht Club in Quincy, MA; served as head of his local union at ADT; was an active scouting leader in Roslindale for many years including establishing a sea scout explorer post for teenaged boys and girls. He was also an avid ham radio enthusiast and loved spending time boating and on the ocean.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 103 Center St., Bridgewater on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015 at 10:00 AM, relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Roxbury.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Sept. 10 from 4-7 PM at Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater.
