Dennis Police: Search of Scargo Lake for Possible Swimmer in Distress

The Dennis Police Department released the following statement at 8:48 p.m. Tuesday via department spokesman Lt. Peter Benson:

At 3:47 pm today the Dennis Police Department Dispatch Center received a report of a male swimmer in Scargo Lake, Dennis that appeared to have been in distress. Dennis Fire and Police personnel responded to the lake at which time Fire Department boats and divers from multiple Cape Cod towns began a search of the area of the lake where witnesses last saw the swimmer. The Massachusetts State Police Air Wing provided assistance with an aerial search of the lake. As of now nothing has been located and dive operations have been suspended but search operations will continue this evening.

Princess Beach will be closed overnight due to the ongoing operation.
