From the National Weather Service:
Our next wintry weather event is coming Monday night and Tuesday. This promises to bring snow at the start for most areas, then turning to a mix of sleet and freezing rain in areas south of the Mass Pike, and to all rain from the Boston area southward to the Cape and Islands and most of Rhode Island on Tuesday. North of the Mass Pike, however, there could be a band of moderate to heavy snow for a few hours, centered around the Tuesday morning commute.
The current snowfall and ice accumulation maps are attached. These are subject to change. Winter Weather Advisories have not formally been issued quite yet... will likely be issued on the midnight shift. In general, we are expecting 1 to 3 inches of snow/sleet south of the Mass Pike, with 3 to 5 inches of mainly snow north of the Pike, with a few spots of 6 inches possible near the NH border. There could also be around 0.10 inch of freezing rain in northern CT, northern RI, and interior MA south of the Pike.
