HARWICH PORT, MA – Outer Cape Health Services (OCHS) today announced the appointment of Wellfleet resident Barbara Penn, MD, to its board of directors. Dr. Penn retired as a primary care physician at OCHS in 2015. Prior to her three years of service at OCHS, she was employed at Massachusetts General Hospital Charlestown HealthCare Center for three decades. As Associate Unit Chief of the Internal Medicine Unit, Penn oversaw operations and the Quality Control committee in addition to maintaining a busy adult patient practice at the Charlestown center.

At OCHS, Dr. Penn worked on quality improvement pilots at the Wellfleet health center and saw adult patients in Wellfleet and Provincetown. She received her medical degree from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences—SUNY.

Dr. Penn joins a 12-member OCHS volunteer board of directors. As a federally-qualified, community health center, OCHS’ board is representative of the communities served by the organization on the Lower and Outer Cape, the majority of whom are also OCHS patients.
