FRANCIS H. HARRINGTON 2/15/1927 – 2/12/2016Francis H. Harrington a long time residence of Brewster, Massachusetts Passed away while in Florida, February 12, 2016. Francis was the son of the Late William and Rose Harrington of Norwood. Francis graduated from Norwood High School, Where he and his teammates were baseball state Champs. He entered and graduated from Boston College after serving his country in during the Occupation in Germany It was while at Boston College he met his wife Charlotte at the Boston skating club. As he recalled over the years "She was on the ice, skating the most beautiful girl I had ever seen". While at Boston College he excelled in Baseball and Hockey and helped the Eagles win the 1949 national Hockey Championship at the Broadmoor in Colorado. After graduation he entered the FBI where he remained for the next 5 years. He eventually went into the jewelry business inventing and patenting the plastic ring sizer which provided a good life for him and his wife from the early 70's till the time of his death. One of Francis proudest accomplishments was the hockey program he started at St. Amsalem's College in the late 60's. Several of "Coach Harrington's" players continue to honor him to this day with the annual Frank Harrington golf tournament.But more than anything Francis enjoyed his family. He spent hours on the ice with his son and Grandchildren. Took great pride in watching them grow and excel in their chosen sports. He spent summers in Maine with his son and family and winters traveling with them to the Caymans where he spent endless hours in the water with his grandchildren. Always a coach cheering them on and teaching them life lessons. Francis is survived by the love of his life Charlotte Wynkoop Harrington Daughter Cheryl Smith of Merritt Island Florida, His son Shaun F. Harrington and his wife Mary Avery Harrington of Brewster. His cherished Grand Children Benjamin Harrington Smith of Orleans Ma., Karly Shea Harrington of Warren RI, and Paige Avery Harrington of Brewster.Shaun and His wife together with his 3 Grandchildren.Invite you to join with them in a celebration of his life 6pm on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Doan Beal and Ames funeral Home in Dennis, MA with service to follow 6pm.
