John Clark Howland, Sr., 86 of Cotuit, died on February 4, 2016.
Born in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Willis and Grace (Clark) Howland and graduated from Gould Academy in Maine.
John moved to Cape Cod in 1963, opening Howlands Hobby Shop on Main Street in Hyannis.
He was a Korean War vet, an active member of the Hyannis Yacht Club, sailing and racing and was a Commodore in 1977-1978. In retirement he pursued his interest in model trains, cars and boats.
He is survived by and was cared for by his son John C. Howland, Jr. and beloved friends Jeannine and Rachael Paddock. He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years Carol Thorupe Howland and his second wife Pearl Bond and a daughter Cindy.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Friday, February 12th at Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit.
John was a strong believer in Hospice Care and was cared for by Hope Hospice. Donations may be made in his memory to Hope Hospice, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.
