BREWSTER - Callahan, Lillian S. (nee Raczko) Abramczyk, age 97, died peacefully at home, August 7, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Wife of the late Patrick Callahan and Edward Abramczyk who passed away 50 years ago. Lillian is survived by her children Jeanette (Abramczyk) Battles and son-in-law William, of Brewster, and William Abramczyk and daughter-in-law Carol, of East Sandwich. Lillian was the beloved grandmother of 5 grandchildren, Bill Battles of Westport and his wife Sherri, Michael Battles of Brewster and his wife Jackie, Jeanette (Battles) Apap Bologna of Sarasota, Florida and her husband James, Meghan (Abramczyk) Homer of Sandwich and her husband Brandon, and Ryan Abramczyk of East Sandwich; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, her brother Edward Rosko of Tacoma, WA and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her infant daughter Barbara Abramczyk and brothers Stanley, Henry and John and sisters Ollie, Jenny and Wanda. Lillian was the daughter of the late William Raczko and Felixia (Radulski) Raczko who emigrated from Poland in the early 1900s. Born in Marlborough MA, Lillian lived most of her life in Hyde Park on 'the island' before retiring to Cape Cod to be near her children. Being born into the greatest generation and having grown up in the depression Lillian was a strong, independent woman. After raising her family, Lillian was a bank clerk and when 'retiring' to the Cape, worked at Jordan Marsh/Macy's and had the privilege to be one of Macy's Golden Girls, finally retiring again at the age of 88. Lillian loved to travel, especially taking her grandchildren on summer jaunts throughout New England. Lillian took pride in everything that she did. She loved most spending time with her family, and cherished being a mother and grandmother, sharing her cooking, baking and Polish heritage with everyone.Visitation will be held from 3-7 PM on Monday, August 10 at Nickerson Funeral Home, Orleans, MA. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 11 at Our Lady of the Cape, Brewster, MA, followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery, Hyde Park, MA.For online condolences please visit
