Michael F. Ozimek

Passed away on February 02, 2016
Michael Francis Ozimek was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on July 26, 1947 to Bella and Thaddeus Ozimek in Worcester, Massachusetts. He attended Auburn High School, Cape Cod Community College, and UMass Amherst. In 1967, Michael moved to Cape Cod. He worked for many years as a projectionist at the Center Theatre in Hyannis, where he met Brenda Joyce Carvalho, the nineteen-year-old counter clerk who would spend the next 48 years as Michael's partner, his best friend, and eventually his wife. Prior to Michael's illness, he held various retail positions, though his primary focus was always more spiritual than material. He was a vegetarian, a daily practitioner of yoga and transcendental meditation, and a lifelong student of astrology, Eastern philosophy, and world religions. He traveled frequently to the White Mountains of New Hampshire, which he selected for his final resting place. Michael spent his final days in the peace and serenity of his prayer and meditation room with some of those he most loved attending him and holding him close in their hearts. Michael is survived by his immediate family: his wife Brenda of West Yarmouth, his niece and surrogate daughter Marisa Lynn, and her son, Michael's surrogate grandson, Jackson Taylor Murphy. He is also survived by his cousin, Beverly Kulik and uncle, Zenas Taylor of Dennis; mother-in-law, Esther Carvalho, brother-in-law, Richard Carvalho, aunt, Judy Lewison, and nephew, Joshua Carvalho, all of Mashpee; nephew Jimmy Wyatt, sister-in-law Mary Boston and husband Garry of Haymarket, Virginia; nephew Shawn Wyatt and wife Dawn of Burke, Virginia; cousins Mary Jean Baker of Brewster, Michele Ramming of Naples, Florida; and Gina Barboza of Hyannis who was like a sister to him. Donations in Michael's memory may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Cape Cod Healthcare's VNA Hospice, or the Be the Match Foundation. If you are not already registered as a stem cell donor, Michael's family urges to you consider registering at www.BeTheMatch.org. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
