Mitzi F. Salomone

Mitzi Hadfield Salomone, age 92, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2016 in Brewster, MA after an extended illness. She was the eldest daughter of Mabel and Ernest Hadfield and was born in Plainville, CT on June 23, 1923. Mitzi attended Plainville public schools, where she met her husband, Frank J. Salomone, in eighth grade. Following high school, she attended and graduated from Moody Business School in Hartford, CT. Her first job was for the Humane Society of CT as the Assistant to the Director.In 1944, Mitzi married her husband, Frank, prior to his commission in WWII as an ensign in the Naval Air Corp. They traveled throughout the United States as he fulfilled his military commitment to the Navy. In 1948, they settled in Watertown, MA where two of their daughters, Kerry and Lynne, were born, and they moved to Needham, MA in 1955. They were blessed with a third daughter, Diane, after their move to Needham.While raising the three girls in Needham, Mitzi was very active in Carter Memorial Methodist Church. She loved singing as an alto in the church choir and joined the women's group. She and Frank made many friends in the church congregation. Mitzi also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She worked for Wellesley College for 10 years in both the Chemistry and Psychology Departments and retired as Administrative Assistant to the Psychology Department Chair in 1979.After spending many summers vacationing on Cape Cod, Mitzi and Frank retired to their dream house in Eastham on the Cape and actively volunteered in the Eastham Senior Center. They both loved to entertain and cook for all of their friends and relatives. They also enjoyed traveling within the US and abroad.Mitzi's final years were spent in Brewster, MA. She was cared for by her husband, Frank, daughter, Diane, and son-in-law, Kenny, and the generous and kind staff at The Woodlands at Pleasant Bay and Gentiva Hospice.Mitzi is survived by her husband, Frank Salomone of Brewster, her daughter Kerry Salomone of Ventura, CA, her daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Robert Nagle of Oak Park, CA, her daughter and son-in-law, Diane Salomone and Kenny Reis of Brewster, MA, her two grandchildren, Katherine Nagle of Cambridge, MA and David Nagle of San Diego, CA, and many loving nieces and nephews.The memorial service for Mitzi will be private.
