Raymond Fournier

Raymond E. Fournier passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 9, 2016 with his wife & loving family at his side. Ray was born on September 5, 1929 in Gardner, MA, the son of Benoit and Leona Fournier. He was raised and educated in Gardner and attended 2 years at St. Joseph's College in Berthieville, Canada. Ray was active in baseball, playing for the former "Fighting Frenchmen" baseball team. He was also an avid tennis player. In 1952, he married Pearl E. (Fredette) Fournier. They lived in Gardner where they raised their family of four children. This past April, Ray and Pearl celebrated 63 years of mamage. Prior to moving to the Cape in 1980, Ray was employed at Gardner Coal & Oil Company for twenty-four years, where he worked as a Heating Installation & Serviceman. In later years, he served as Dispatcher for the company. Ray was a counterman at R. B. Corcoran Plumbing & Heating Supply Co. of Hyannis for many years. At the time of his retirement in 1991, he was employed at Cape Way Heating & Plumbing Supply Co. in Orleans. Ray was a devoted parishioner of the Holy Trinity Parish in West Harwich, where he was a Perpetual Adoration member since the Adoration Chapel began in 1996. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7312. His family was his delight. He was most happy spending time with his grandchildren and his family. He was perfectly contented keeping up his property and puttering around. Ray was noted for his quick humor. Besides his wife Pearl, he leaves two daughters; Nan Pierce and husband Barry of Gardner, MA and Patricia Viens and husband Scott of Marstons Mills; two sons, Michael Fournier of Shelbume, VT and Gary Fournier and wife Stefanie of Brewster; two sisters, Loretta Lorion and Gloria and husband Roland LeBlanc, all of Gardner, MA; seven grandchildren and two great grand-daughters, a nephew and several nieces. A funeral Mass of Celebration will be held at the Holy Trinity Church in West Harwich at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 23, 2016.
