Provincetown, or “P-Town,” is rightfully known as the welcoming, warm, and vibrant Northern tip of the Cape.

With a beautiful downtown centered around the famous Commercial Street, endless water views, shops, and a gorgeous boardwalk. Provincetown has proven to be one of the most idyllic and charming spots for people that live here and tourists alike to explore and enjoy everything there is to do.

It also happens to be a culinary hotspot filled with restaurants serving a diverse range of cuisine, most of which feature picturesque bay views!

1. Victor’s

Victor’s restaurant is an amazing spot serving “New American” cuisine and specialty cocktails in an elegant, cottage-style environment. Victor’s is open seven days a week for happy hour from 3 to 5 p.m., dinner, and Sunday brunch.

The place itself is incredibly airy and light, with white tablecloths inside and tons of outdoor tables. There is also comfy outdoor furniture surrounding a beautiful fire pit. I’ve also noticed how attentive the staff is–they always seem to remember the faces of returning customers and are very welcoming and friendly! 

The restaurant offers shareable plates that are all extremely thoughtful in their construction and flavor. If you decide to attend happy hour, you’ll be offered refreshing drinks like the white cosmo or spicy cucumber margarita, and an assortment of raw bar items like oysters and shrimp.

Additionally, the raw bar menu has tasty choices like chicken wings, fries, and burger sliders. The restaurant also provides specials and sometimes even has something called “Sushi Tuesday.” You can check out their Facebook to see if it’s something they are currently offering! 

Looking at the shareable plates, there are so many good choices for every craving! For those wanting veggies, the stuffed mushrooms are amazing, and the vegetable spring rolls are bright and enticing.

For seafood, the tuna tartare and grilled halibut tacos are absolutely delicious. I also suggest trying the house-made empanadas which can be made with either chicken or mushrooms. 

For dessert, the homemade beignets with fresh seasonal fruit are a must-try! 

Definitely make a reservation if you plan to eat at Victor’s for dinner. It truly is a wonderful all-around experience for anyone lucky enough to dine there! 

2. Fanizzi’s Restaurant

Fannizi’s Restaurant serves up Italian and American seafood cuisine right along the water. They serve lunch, dinner, and a Sunday brunch all-you-can-eat buffet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This restaurant is a personal favorite of many of my family members, and it’s not difficult to tell why.

The beautiful bay views and window-lined dining room contribute to the sophisticated yet relaxing atmosphere perfect for a sunset meal. The alluring cozy bar has continuing sea views and is a great place to enjoy a cocktail or appetizer. 

If you do decide to try an appetizer, there are a great deal of options! If you want seafood, the crab cakes are flavorful and the chowder is creamy and rich. If you want something vegetable-based, the stuffed artichokes and buffalo cauliflower are both quite yummy.

I also loved the curried chicken salad and the burnt ends are crispy and moist. What’s more, there are classic appetizers like loaded nachos and homemade onion strings! 

The entree portion of the menu offers a diverse selection of dishes. For seafood, I recommend the cucumber dill salmon or the salmon burger, both of which are super fresh and zesty with flavor. The cajun seafood alfredo is also tasty and perfect for anyone wanting a little pasta with their seafood!

Moreover, the restaurant has lots of hearty classics, like “Mom’s Best Meatloaf,” chicken or eggplant parmesan, or boneless Southern-fried chicken. 

The burger menu at Fanizzi’s is also quite impressive. The “Fanizzi’s Favorite,” in particular is very popular and comes with cheddar, bacon, and veggies–and is served on an English muffin. You can also enjoy a turkey or veggie burger as an alternative! There is also a great kid’s menu available to those 12 and under.

3. The Lobster Pot

The Lobster Pot is an iconic Provincetown establishment that is well-known and very loved by its patrons. Easily spotted by its distinctive neon sign, the Lobster Pot offers seafood classics with beautiful bay views and plenty of refreshing drinks.

The inside of the place is filled with beachy decor, tons of tables, and a huge lobster tank. In addition to the waterfront dining rooms, there is an outdoor deck and the restaurant’s “Top of the Pot” is a gorgeous spot to grab a mocktail or signature cocktail while overlooking the harbor.

In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with their bloody mary (they make the mix!) or one of the non-alcoholic chilled lemonade coolers! 

The menu at The Lobster Pot is quite extensive, featuring seafood, many Portuguese specialties, salads, and raw bar items. In addition to the classic raw bar items, for appetizers, the clam chowder is delicious and can even be served in a bread bowl.

The menu also has a wide selection of bouillabaisses or traditional seafood stews. You can also order a variety of fishes, whether you want tuna, salmon, halibut, or swordfish–all of which can be prepared either blackened or grilled and come with your choice of sauce.

I always recommend going with blackened fish, and the Lobster Pot does not disappoint; the fish is filled with flavor and cooked to perfection. 

As expected due to the name, The Lobster Pot has a huge lobster menu, featuring various forms of preparations. Your lobster can be pan-roasted, stuffed, or boiled. You can also order the “clam bake” which comes with your choice of soup, corn on the cob, red potatoes, and a whole lobster cooked to your liking.

Moreover, you can try their unique lobster Reuben or lobster mac and cheese. 

If you aren’t in the mood for seafood, the menu offers steaks, baked chicken, and vegetarian choices, like the pasta primavera and fresh veggie sandwich. There is also a plethora of gluten-free options, which are highlighted on the menu.

Lastly, there is a great kid’s menu, so if you’re looking for a family-friendly spot, this restaurant is an awesome choice! 

The Lobster Pot does not take reservations and is open for lunch and dinner starting at 11:30 am! 

4. Ciro and Sal’s 

Address: 4 Kiley Ct, Provincetown, MA 02657

Ciro and Sal’s is another Provincetown institution that has been serving Italian cuisine since 1954. The restaurant has been owned by the same family for generations and is known for its authentic and cozy ambiance.

The place serves dinner nightly and offers seating in its intimate brick wine cellar area filled with candlelit tables, as well as in its hidden gem of a bar that is extremely romantic with strong Italian vibes.

Additionally, Ciro and Sal’s has a beautiful garden gazebo twirled with vines and giving off amazing views. 

Ciro and Sal’s offers nightly and weekly specials and the menu promotes the use of local ingredients: seafood, pasta, chicken, veal, and tons of house-crafted sauces. For appetizers, the bruschetta with homemade pesto bread and the gnocchi caprese are both fresh and packed with flavor.

If you decide to order pasta for an entree, the lasagna is rich and amazing, as is the carbonara. Pasta dishes can also be substituted with gluten-free pasta. For veggies, I urge you to go with the sauteed spinach and roasted walnuts, or the chef’s nightly choice of sauteed seasonal vegetables. 

If you plan to try a seafood item, the Pesce al limone, Native Fish with lemon caper white wine sauce is absolutely mouthwatering. Chicken or veal can be prepared in a variety of ways, including marsala, Milanese, and parmesan.

And, if you still have room for dessert, the menu has a huge specialty coffee list and yummy choices like tiramisu and a beautiful, light lemon cake with powdered sugar and lemon cream. 

Reservations at Ciro and Sal’s are required for dining, so book ahead of time! Lastly, while kids are certainly welcome, I find the vibe of the restaurant to be much more attuned to groups of adults or those out for a romantic date night! 

5. The Canteen

Address: 225 Commercial St, Provincetown, MA 02657

The Canteen is a classic seafood shack with a modern, elevated vibe that is casual and welcoming. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner as well as brunch on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The style of the spot is quirky and eclectic and sits inside a 200-year-old building. The dining style is described as “communal” and features indoor seating, tent seating, and beach seating–all with gorgeous views.

If you’re like me and love the feel of warm sand between your toes, try to get a spot on the beach! There is even a full beach bar and dogs are encouraged to join their family for outside dining. 

The Canteen is counter-serve and seat-yourself, making it a fun spot for shoppers or beachgoers to stop for a meal. The menu has unconventional yet delicious choices, like the Bahn min Dog or Taco dog–taking the regular hot dog to a very elevated level.

Personally, I recommend trying the crab rangoon grilled cheese sandwich, the idea is so creative and the taste is perfect. The French fries are another hit and are made from scratch right on-site! 

However, there are also traditional choices like hot and cold lobster rolls, fried lobster tail, and a beautiful summer wedge salad. If you’re looking for vegan alternatives, there is a cauliflower sandwich and vegan grilled cheese.

There are also plenty of gluten-free choices throughout the menu and options for kids!

 Moreover, if you try the Canteen for brunch, make sure to indulge in the croissant lobster roll or vegan egg panini. You can also put an egg atop any regular menu item! Brunch is even accompanied by a free coffee with sandwich orders between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

If you want a more refreshing morning beverage, try the homemade lemonade or iced tea–or make it an Arnold Palmer! 

The Canteen does not take reservations but be sure to stop by for an incredibly enjoyable and memorable meal! 

6. The Red Inn

Address: 15 Commercial St, Provincetown, MA 02657

The Red Inn is a beautiful harbor-adjacent spot offering a fine-dining, romantic experience. The restaurant has a gorgeous and elegant dining room inside, as well as a beautiful bar and fireplace.

There is also an oceanfront deck that opens at 2 p.m. daily. The deck serves cocktails and is lined with Adirondack chairs, making it a great place to relax and enjoy the view. 

The Red Inn is open daily for happy hour, and dinner, and also serves brunch every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you go to the restaurant for brunch, raw bar items and appetizers are available.

They also have classics like steak and eggs, chicken N biscuits, and cinnamon French toast. 

Happy Hour begins at 2 p.m. and goes until 4:30, serving an abundance of raw bar items, specialty cocktails, and other upscale “bar snacks,” like lobster or Kobe beef sliders, creole pate, and spicy corn chowder.

For specialty cocktails, I suggest the spicy margarita! 

If you go to the Red Inn for a full dinner, I urge you to start your meal with lobster and artichoke fondue or bacon-wrapped oysters accompanied with a zesty remoulade sauce. For entrees, the pepper-crusted filet mignon with truffle mashed potatoes is absolutely luxurious.

They also do a delightful smoked long island duck and a local scallop dish. If you want a vegetarian alternative, the savory vegetable bread pudding is enticing and creative. For dessert, I personally suggest the classic pecan pie–it speaks for itself!  

The Red Inn Restaurant definitely boasts more of a sophisticated, adult vibe ideal for a date night. Sometimes there are even local musicians performing, adding to the romantic feel.

The restaurant does accept reservations, which are recommended. 

7. Mistralino Ristorante

Address: 133 Bradford St, Provincetown, MA 02657

Mistralino Ristorante is an authentic Italian spot located right near Town Hall inside of a historic Provincetown home.

The quaint and cozy restaurant features beautiful brick fireplaces, wooden beams, and very unique decor, as the walls are lined with different plates, which may sound odd but is actually quite beautiful.

The outdoor seating along the garden terrace with string lights and a gorgeous fountain also adds to the romantic and intimate environment–as does the level of sophistication and attentiveness of the service. 

Open for dinner, Mistralino’s offers new specials nightly along with early bird specials. However, the regular menu also has tons of delicious choices, all of which come with generous portion sizes.

For appetizers, I encourage you to try the truffle arancini or escargot. The antipasto salad is also amazing. For entrees, the linguine and clams with your choice of red or white sauce are super tasty. The parmigiana can be served with eggplant, veal, or chicken.

Additionally, if you crave meat, the filet mignon and pork osso buco are both rich in flavor. For dessert, try the homemade cannoli or bread pudding! 

Definitely make a reservation if you plan to enjoy a meal at Mistralino Ristorante. Also, don’t forget to check out the “M” bar on the upper level of the restaurant, which is a great place to stop for a pre or post-dinner cocktail! 

8. The Pointe Restaurant

Addresss: 82 Bradford St, Provincetown, MA 02657

The Pointe Restaurant is an upscale, farm-to-table spot featuring coastal cuisine in a modern, beautiful dining room within the Crowne Pointe Historic Inn & Spa. Serving dinner Thursday through Sunday from 5:30 to 9 p.m., The Pointe promotes a romantic and intimate atmosphere for anyone looking to enjoy a quiet and elegant meal.

Whether you decide to eat in the dining room or the gorgeous lounge area and wine bar, you are sure to have an amazing experience. However, if you do choose to dine in the lounge area, make sure to revel in the glassed-in wine cellar and tables with comfy chairs.

Also, try a signature cocktail like the ginger martini or negroni! 

The menu at The Pointe Restaurant features a lot of locally caught seafood and organic produce. For appetizers, I recommend the escargot or chopped salad. They also have an amazingly creamy clam chowder with thyme-smoked bacon.

For entrees, the butter-poached lobster with pappardelle is luscious and rich. The Pan-seared halibut is another great seafood dish. For those not craving seafood, the roasted chicken is hearty and tender, and the filet mignon is cooked to perfection. They also offer an Impossible Burger, which is a great vegetarian alternative. 

The Pointe even does specialty Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve menus! Make sure to make a reservation!

9. Front Street Restaurant

Address: 230 Commercial St, Provincetown, MA 02657

Front Street Restaurant is another intimate Italian spot serving a more contemporary style of cuisine. Located within a gorgeous Victorian-style home, Front Street is chef-owned and operated and has a cozy Old Cape Cod feel that is accentuated by the brick throughout the dining room and the romantic, dim lighting. 

Front Street has an amazing wine list and also offers nightly specials in addition to its regular menu. For appetizers, their traditional Caesar salad is crisp and delicious, and the French onion soup is hearty with flavor and gooey cheese. I also suggest the shrimp and grits or mussels bianco! 

If you decide to go with pasta for your entree, the wild boar ragu and potato gnocchi with white truffle cream are both rich and fulfilling dishes.

For seafood, you can choose between various shrimp preparations, from tetrazzini, scampi, saltimbocca, and francese. They also serve a delicious plate of linguine and clams.

If you want chicken or veal, the chicken cacciatore is a tasty dish, as well as the veal parmigiana. Lastly, for dessert, the vanilla bean panna cotta is super creamy and delicate. 

This spot definitely considers itself to be family-friendly, but personally, I would describe it as more of a romantic, date-night location. Reservations at The Front Street Restaurant are very much recommended! 

10. Strangers & Saints

Address: 404 Commercial St, Provincetown, MA 02657

Strangers and Saints is a charming Mediterranean-style tavern and gastropub serving a wide variety of shareable plates for dinner. Located in a former sea captain’s home, this restaurant is filled with beautiful decor, like ships, gold-accented tables, and nautical, ocean scenes painted along the walls.

The place consists of a gorgeous wooden bar that is only accentuated by the wooden beams along the ceiling. The dining room is slightly formal but equally relaxing, and it truly feels as though you are on a ship.

Whether you sit at the bar, at a table, or enjoy the cozy leather chairs near the fireplace, you are bound to have a one-of-a-kind meal. There is also seasonal dining on the patio, which is great for people-watching and lovely sea views!  

If you start your meal with a cocktail, I suggest the Barrel-aged Manhattan or Vintage Cosmopolitan–you can truly tell the level of ingredients used by how smooth and refreshing these drinks are! 

As mentioned, Stranger’s and Saints focuses on shareable plates that aim to create an intimate and participatory dining experience.

For seafood plates, I recommend the grilled Spanish octopus with fresh herbs or the pan-seared cod cheeks with chorizo, which are so, so good. For meat-based dishes, the pork belly Chicharron with spicy popcorn and queso fundido is unique and perfectly savory.

Looking at vegetarian choices? The poached ricotta dumplings and charred shishito peppers are super tasty. The homemade hummus with bread is also a yummy dish to share among your table. For dessert, try “Mom’s Ricotta Cheesecake” which is infused with fresh berries! 

Due to the sophisticated level of cuisine and lively environment, I consider Stranger’s and Saints to be more of an adult-style place probably not suited for young kids. However, the staff and service are so wonderful and attentive, so I’m sure kids would be welcome! Finally, the restaurant does accept reservations! 

11. Jimmy’s HideAway

Another spot located along Commercial Street, Jimmy’s HideAway is a hidden gem serving up American cuisine with European flare. The romantic ambiance in the restaurant’s dining room is immediately apparent, with the dim lighting, beautiful dark-wood bar, and a fun combination of high tops and regular tables.

However, the delightful atmosphere is equally present along the outdoor patio, which is right along the water and features umbrella-clad tables perfect for appreciating ocean views and having a drink, like their spicy Paloma or a local draft beer. 

For appetizers, the braised-short rib sliders are comforting and tender and the grilled Wellfleet oysters with warm jalapeno lemon butter have the perfect combination of acidity and richness. For a vegetarian alternative, the tofu wings are also super great and flavorful.

For an entree, try the Provincetown Fisherman’s Stew–seriously, it is ridiculously good, with indulgent broth and loaded with fresh seafood, chorizo, and topped with crostinis. The menu also has a “comfort” section, with choices like fish and chips, Southern fried chicken, and fried shrimp. 

For dessert, the key lime pie is extremely bright and tangy, and the bread pudding is warm and makes for a delicious end to your meal.

I do consider the restaurant to be a spot more appropriate to enjoy without the kids, however, the staff at Jimmy’s HideAway is incredibly friendly and warm to all of its diners. Jimmy’s is open for dinner every night except for Wednesday and the restaurant does recommend making a reservation! 

12. The Mews Restaurant & Cafe

Address: 429 Commercial St, Provincetown, MA 02657

The Mews Restaurant & Cafe is a waterfront spot serving American cuisine with a seafood twist. The restaurant is divided into two levels: the bistro level and the beach level.

The bistro, or upstairs dining room, consists of a neon-lit bar, high-top and regular tables, and beautiful bay views. The bistro level is definitely a bit more lively than downstairs, and is a great area to sit with friends!

The beach level downstairs is a more quiet and intimate area ideal for a romantic date night. The floor features French doors and floor-to-ceiling windows that provide gorgeous views of the ocean and one of Provincetown’s lighthouses. 

Mews has a fantastic raw bar and does offer nightly specials. For appetizers, I recommend fried cod fritters or lobster dumplings. If you want a salad, however, the arugula salad is very fresh and bright. For entrees, the duck leg confit is tender yet crispy and come with rich foie gras mashed potatoes.

I also suggest the pan-seared scallops, which are perfectly cooked and come with a fried potato nest–both fun to eat and very tasty. For a classic dinner, try one of the steak or chicken dishes.

If you’re looking for a vegan alternative, the menu offers a great vegan lemon pesto pasta with toasted pine nuts! For dessert, the mocha panna cotta with mascarpone whipped cream is luscious and creamy. 

The restaurant does not have a kid’s menu, but with choices like cheeseburgers and chicken sandwiches, there are certainly some options for children! 

The Mews Restaurant is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday and does accept reservations. 

13. The Squealing Pig Provincetown

Address: 335 Commercial St, Provincetown, MA 02657

The Squealing Pig Provincetown is a pub-style establishment well-known for its lively environment and an amazing selection of tasty food and drinks. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor dining, as well as a very cool bar with chalkboard listings and a large TV.

The Squealing Pig has a lengthy beer selection, with tons of choices on draft, many local beers, and a wide array of hard ciders. There are also plenty of signature cocktails, like the “Pig Punch” and Cape Cod Mule. Additionally, there is nonalcoholic beer and seltzer available. 

The raw bar at the Squealing Pig has tons of fresh seafood, including platters, shrimp cocktail, and daily ceviche specials. If you’re feeling especially adventurous, try the oyster shooter!  Furthermore, the raw bar offers a Happy Hour with deals on oysters. 

For appetizers, the chicken wings and smoky seafood chowder are both delicious. I also urge you to try the amazing hand-cut and twice-fried French fries, which can be prepared in multiple ways–parmesan truffle, Tuscan, or Nepali curry. If you want something a bit lighter to start your meal, the house salad is very fresh and tasty. 

For entrees, there is an abundance of options, from sandwiches to fried plates to homestyle classics, like shepherd’s pie and fried chicken.

For seafood, I recommend the fish and chips or salmon burger. And, for a sandwich, the Cubano Toastie is loaded with slow-roasted pork and an amazing jalapeno mustard relish that packs a bright and tangy kick. 

The Squealing Pig even has live music sometimes and while the regular restaurant hours are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., the bar stays open late! 

14. Napi’s Restaurant

Address: 7 Freeman St, Provincetown, MA 02657

Napi’s Restaurant coins itself an “unusual joint” and serves seafood and international cuisine. The restaurant is filled with unique decor and a copious amount of art.

Offering dinner nightly, Napi’s has been open for 49 years and maintains its “old school” vibe while still exhibiting an eclectic environment filled with stained glass, lots of brick, and very cool light fixtures. There is also a beautiful fireplace, which is lovely if you enjoy a meal at Napi’s during the winter! 

The menu at Napi’s Restaurant is known for being quite creative and inventive, and it lives up to expectations. For appetizers, I recommend the Portuguese kale soup, classic Caesar salad, or crispy fried calamari.

Looking at entrees, the Mediterranean roasted vegetable ravioli is extremely vibrant and tasty. The roasted duck with orange sauce is also delicious and very generous with its portion. I also urge you to try one of the classics, like chicken alfredo or parmesan!

15. Nor’ East Beer Garden

Nor’ East Beer Garden is a wonderful brother and sister-owned restaurant offering great food and great beer in a beautiful outdoor setting. The restaurant has a rustic feel, filled with lots of wood, and a stunning bar.

The tables are surrounded by greenery, flowers, trellises, and lots of vines. Even more, the staff is wonderfully welcoming and helpful to newcomers when it comes to both beer and food selections.

Everything at Nor’ East is homemade, from the syrups used in drinks to the tortillas used in some dishes. If you do plan to try a beer, the specialty list is impressively large, with tons on draft, many local beers, and beers from all across the world.

Also, make sure to ask about whichever limited-edition beer is available at the time! However, if you’d rather have a cocktail, the arugula mojito and lavender sidecar are creative and balanced. 

The small plates menu at Nor’ East Beer Garden is separated into cold and hot dishes. For cold plates, I recommend the whipped ricotta on sourdough toast or the steamed and chilled mussels.

For hot plates, the arancini and chicken parm are both comforting and packed with flavor. If you decide to order a main dish, the ribeye steak with chimichurri sauce is amazing and the roasted bluefish, one of my favorites, is super yummy. 

The Nor’ East Beer Garden does not accept reservations but you can join the waitlist at the front of the garden and enjoy a beer while you await your table!
