Yarmouth Police arrest 3 locals over weekend for alleged drunk driving
YARMOUTH - Yarmouth P0lice arrested three local residents for alleged drunk driving over the weekend. The first arrest occurred at 6 PM on Friday evening when Patrol Officers Michael Zontini and George Tsoukalas responded to a crash involving two vehicles near the intersection of Old Town House Road and West Yarmouth Road in West Yarmouth. Upon their arrival, the Patrol Officers determined that the operator of one of the vehicles 50-year old Irene Zarate was intoxicated and placed her under arrest for her second offense of drunken driving.

The second arrest occurred about 1:15 AM on Saturday morning when Police Patrol Officer Paul Mellett reportedly observed a vehicle traveling north on Higgins Crowell Road in West Yarmouth in an erratic manner. The vehicle was traveling only 20 MPH in a 40 MPH zone-weaving from side to side across the center divider lines and drove over a lawn. Patrol Officer Mellett stopped the vehicle and determined that the driver 26-year old Luis Paguay was intoxicated and placed him under arrest for his second offense of drunken driving.

The third arrest came as a result of a crash that occurred at 1:30 AM on Sunday morning when K9 Patrol Officer Marc Thibeault and Patrol Officer Michael Kramer responded to a motor vehicle crash on Forest Road in South Yarmouth. Upon his arrival K9 Officer Thibeault found an Isuzu pickup truck heavily damaged and flipped over on to its side with no one around. Officer Thibeault conducted a track with his K9 partner Clark, which eventually led to a heavily wooded area east of the crash site. The K9 team successfully located 22-year old Christopher Demeule hiding behind a tree. An on-scene investigation determined that Demeule was intoxicated and he was placed under arrest for drunken driving.

All three suspects are scheduled for arraignment in the Barnstable District Court on Tuesday. Posted on 12/24 at 11:30 PM.
