Falmouth dog beheaded; Marstons Mills crash; Power outages in Harwich, Dennis

MARSTONS MILLS - One person was taken to Cape Cod Hospital after this crash in Marstons Mills. The driver apparently lost control of the car and jumped a curb striking a utility pole on Lovells Lane near River Road Satruday afternoon. Some localized power outages were reported. doghead FALMOUTH - A horrible find for a Falmouth pit bull owner. Someone cut off the head of her pet pit bull and left it in a decorative tin on the hood of her car. The owner found the head of her dog - named Nitrous - on Thursday.  Court papers indicate she blames the owners of a home-based Mashpee kennel.
     The woman said the kennel had been caring for her dogs since she became homeless in October... Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Falmouth Department of Natural Resources at 508-457-2552. Read the WHDH-TV report here.

Pole fire, crash knock out power to parts of Harwich and Dennis
- Parts of Harwich and Dennis experienced power failures this Saturday morning. In Harwich Sometime after 7 AM a primary wire came off its insulator along Route 124 causing a fire on the pole and knocking out service to about 2000 customers. Meanwhile a vehicle crash in Dennis shortly before 9 AM snapped a pole and brought wires down. The scene was on Route 28 in West Dennis near the Bass River Bridge. The road is closed until NStar crews can clear the wires and make repairs. The driver 23-year old Rachel Vanas of Orleans was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. She was cited by Dennis Police for speeding, marked lanes violation and impeded operation. The latter charge was because she was allegedly distracted using her cell phone.
