Carly Simon Triumphantly Comes Around Again with "Into White"

Soothingly warm, peaceful and mellow

Carly Simon's Into White is destined to be another favorite by this beloved artist

By Maggie Kulbokas

Famed Martha's Vineyard resident Carly Simon returns to the music scene this year with a dreamy album entitled, "Into White".  The album, produced by Simon and Jimmy Parr, takes its name from a Cat Steven's song from the 1970s.

The album is a harmonious mix of songs from yesterday such as the Beatle's "Blackbird", Judy Garland's "Over the Rainbow" and "Scarborough Fair" as well a few new songs penned by Simon including "Love of My Life" and "Quiet Evening".

And "quiet evening" is exactly the kind of feeling this album envokes. Carly's voice is as clear and warm as ever and wonderfully framed by the melodies played by Teese Gohl, Peter Calo, Jan Hyer, David Saw  and Jimmy Parr. Soothing strings compliment the jazzy sounds of the keyboards and guitars.

Carly Simon has been an American music icon since the release of her first hit single, "That's the Way I've Always Heard It Should Be", in the early 1970s. Her amazing musical career has spanned more than three decades with "Into White" being her latest achievement.

In late 1972 Simon married fellow singer/songwriter James Taylor and they had two children, Ben and Sally, both of whom are musicians today. It's a family affair when Ben and Sally join their mother on "You Can Close Your Eyes" written by dad, James Taylor. The very touching song is truly a highlight on "Into White".

"Into White" is a gentle, beautiful album reminiscent of daydreams and lullabies. Whether you are a lifetime Carly Simon fan or new to her timeless music and vocals, "Into White" is worth checking out.

"Into White", produced by Carly Simon and Jimmy Parr and released on January 2, 2007, is available on Columbia Records. Visit the Columbia site here.
