Man charged with 6th OUI in Yarmouth
-  Yarmouth Police Patrol Officer Cheryl Nugent Gomsey got quite a scare just before 7 PM Saturday when she observed a vehicle driving towards her in the wrong lane as she was patrolling eastbound on Buck Island Road in West Yarmouth. Ofc. Nugent Gomsey reversed direction and reportedly further observed the 2002 Honda CRV turn on to Town Brook Road weaving in and out of the travel lane.

Ofc. Nugent Gomsey stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Route 28 and Camp Street and encountered the operator. With the assistance of fellow Patrol Officer Bradley J. Donahue, the operator was interviewed and given a series of standardized field sobriety tests. Police say based on the erratic operation of the vehicle-statements made by the operator-and his inability to properly perform the sobriety tests-he was placed under arrest for his sixth offense of drunken driving and transported to Yarmouth Police Headquarters. 55-year old William Corp Jr. of South Yarmouth had his license to operate seized by police and his vehicle was being detained subject to forfeiture as a multiple OUI offender. He is scheduled for arraignment in the Barnstable District Court on Monday. Posted on 1/21 at 4:00 PM. Photo furnished by YPD.
