Motorcyclist dies in Hyannis crash

HYANNIS - A crash between a motorcycle and a car Saturday afternoon left the motorcycle operator dead and the car's driver slightly injured.
19 year-old Felipe Carvalho was pronounced dead at at Cape Cod Hospital after his motorcycle, which was headed west, landed in the eastbound lane of Smith Street, near Haven Lane, according to the police.
Police also said it appears the victim was with a group of 4 cyclists when he "poped a wheelie" according to them and lost control
The front end of this Toyota station wagon was demolished by hte imput. The driver 64-year old John Crosby of Hyannis began to experience distress after the acident, police and fire officials said. Barnstable Police are investigating the crash.
On Sunday friends of the victim gathered at the scene and left flowers in Carvalho's memory.

Two injured, one seriously in West Barnstable crash
WEST BARNSTABLE - Two people were injured, one seriously in a crash at a notorious West Barnstable intersection. The crash happened at Route 149, the Service Road and the offramp of Route 6. 46-year old Patricia Burke of West Barnstable was driving this jeep was totalled in the crash when it collided with a car trying to make a right turn driven by 50-year old Mary Ann Riley of Raynham. Brewster firefighters save house
BREWSTER - Quick work by Brewster firefighters saved this house from being extensively damaged by a fire.
The fire apparently started outside and spread to the home off Great Field Road.
Charred and melted siding are visable but no significant damage was done inside and no one was injured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
