BOURNE - Four Social Studies teachers from the Lawrence Middle School in Falmouth and an off-duty Bourne police officer pulled a trapped man from his burning Ford Explorer on Route 28 in Bourne around 9 a.m. Friday morning.

The condition of the victim, a 49-year-old man from Sandwich, is unknown at this time, though it is believed his injuries were not life-threatening.

Adam Thomas of Falmouth was one of the teachers headed up to Boston for an in-service day at the Kennedy Library.  According to Thomas, he and the other teachers (Tom Kelliher, John Long and Jeff Tribou) in the car came upon the SUV on fire on the side of the road.  Kelliher,  smashed the window of the SUV with his foot and they proceeded to drag the unconscious victim from the car.
