Barnstable Human Rights Club to host Gingerbread House Fund-Raising Contest

High school club hosts benefit for local organization

The Human Rights Club at Barnstable High School is holding a fund-raiser on Saturday, December 18, 2010, for Homeless Not Hopeless, Inc. This organization provides tools for people in the homeless community to allow them to rise out of homelessness and become productive members of society. They supply computers so that people can research jobs as well as better housing opportunities. Homeless Not Hopeless also accommodates transportation to take homeless people to job interviews, doctors' appointments, and support groups.

In keeping with the theme of housing, the Human Rights Club is hosting a Gingerbread House Fund-raising Contest in the Barnstable High School Senior Cafeteria on Saturday, December 18 from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. All of the proceeds will benefit Homeless Not Hopeless.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Tickets may be purchased at the door. It is $7 per entry (more than one person can build a gingerbread house together).  Prize will be awarded for winning houses.
