Witnesses to incident at Harwich Treasure Chest sought

To the Editor:

On Saturday, February 26th I was the victim of a verbal & physical assault at the Harwich Treasure Chest recycling station, located at 273 Queen Anne's Road in Harwich, MA, at approximately 10:45 AM. There were several witnesses to this assault- as it expanded over a 30 minute period of time.

I called the Harwich Police Department to have an officer dispatched to the Harwich Treasure Chest, where Officer Derek Dutra took my statement as well as the witness statement from an individual who remained on the scene.

However, many witnesses were made to leave the Harwich Treasure Chest premises by the volunteers of the Treasure Chest as their 30 minute allotted "shopping" time had expired before the Harwich police had arrived. My injuries involved medical attention on the day of the incident.

I am badly shaken from this incident- as were the  many citizens who witnessed this assault & spoke up in an attempt to promote peace.

I am appealing to the public to come forward at this time with any witness accounting of this incident. The case # on file is 11- 2464.
