Sandwich Democratic Town Committee to hold annual yard sale May 28th

Volunteers and items needed

On Saturday, May 28th the Sandwich Democratic Town Committee will hold its annual yard sale. It will be held in the little park across the street from the Fish Hatchery on Route 6A in Sandwich.  We will set up at the park at 6 a.m. and the sale will continue until 3 p.m. This is our single yearly fundraiser, so let us all join in to make it successful.

We need as many items to be donated for sale as we can get. Please scour your own basements, garages and sheds for things you are no longer using. Please be as generous as you can. Also (important) talk to friends, neighbors, relatives and fellow workers and ask them if they have anything they can contribute to our sale. Over the course of the last few sales, I am told that we were very fortunate in getting items donated by people who were moving or remodeling, as well as from estates of people who have recently deceased. Please be on the lookout. We will not accept clothing, computer components nor electronics that are not new or nearly new.

We also need many volunteers to assist in the collecting and storing of donated items, as well as setting up at the sale itself. Strong backs and access to a truck are a must. We need as many such volunteers as we can to assist in the collecting, moving and storage of these items. Do you have a truck? Do you have a reasonably strong back? We need your help. In addition, we might need space for the storage of items between the time they are donated and the time of the sale. Do you have some extra space in your garage, basement or shed?

If you cannot participate in the moving and storage of goods, could you come to the park and help us conduct the actual sale? It would be nice to have four shifts of two hours each, starting at 6 a.m. and continuing until 3 p.m.

We also need baked goods and plants to sell. If you are handy in the oven or have an abundance of plants in your house or yard, there is a ready market for such items.

If you are have items to offer for sale, or if you are interested in volunteering, please contact Lou Cerrone at 508-428-0307 or by email at [email protected].
