Keating to tour Cape Air, one of the largest employers on Cape Cod

On Monday, May 9, 2011, 10th District Congressman Bill Keating will tour Cape Air’s headquarters in Hyannis.  Cape Air, which is owned by State Senator Dan Wolf, is one of the largest employers on Cape Cod.

“Cape Air is a great example of how successful a small business can become,” said Rep. Keating.  “Right now, we need to create jobs, but we also need to make investments in and help our local entrepreneurs and innovators.  I am looking forward to discussing Cape Air’s road to success with Senator Wolf.  Hopefully, our conversation will shed light on certain things that small business owners and entrepreneurs in all industries can do to increase their likelihood for success.”

“I’m also excited to tour Cape Air’s new green facility,” continued Rep. Keating.  “I am a big advocate for sustainable communities and clean energy technology and am interested in how Cape Air is now harnessing solar power to operate its headquarters.”  Solar panels on the company's roof make it one of the largest photovoltaic installations in Southeastern Massachusetts.

State Senator--then Captain--Dan Wolf founded Cape Air in 1989 with eight employees and one plane. Today, it is one of the largest independent regional airlines in the United States.
