Bourne Main Street roadwork to begin early June

Phase III of project to last for three months

The Town of Bourne announced that the Phase III of the Main Street Streetscape Project in Buzzards Bay will begin in early June. The work will include roadway narrowing, installation of new granite curbing, concrete sidewalks, concrete block paving, loaming and seeding. Trees will be planted and trash receptacles and benches will also be installed.

According to Coreen Moore in the Town Planner's Office, the town had hoped to wait until the fall to tackle this phase of the Main Street project, but delaying the project would have put state funding in jeopardy.

The work will start at Ryan Family Amusements at 200 Main Street and Nick's Pizza House at 205 Main Street and continue east to the Belmont Rotary.  Once completed, the project will create a safer downtown Buzzards Bay.

The project is expected to last three months. The Town promises to minimize disruption for pedestrians and motorists when possible.

Questions should be directed to Coreen Moore in the Town Planner's Office at 508-759-0615, ext. 4, or Rickie Tellier, DPW Superintendent at 508-759-0640.
