Christine's Weekend Picks: August 31 through September 3--Labor Day Weekend

Christine's Weekend Picks: August 31 through September 3

Where on earth did the time ago? Just a couple of weeks ago, it seems, we were all celebrating the coming of summer, waiting for those lazy days at the beach, and now, suddenly, in a flash, I feel like it’s all vanished and we’re madly anticipating fall, and the start of school. Here’s hoping you all have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend. As usual, there’s much to do before it’s time for those busy fall days to begin…here’s wishing you the best amidst the rush!

  • Feathered Friends Walk is always a great opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Wildlife Sanctuary in Wellfleet, learn about our feathered friends and get some exercise! From 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM at Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary in South Wellfleet.

  • Highland Cape Cod Lighthouse Tour is a great opportunity to enjoy one of the great lighthouses on the lower Cape! From 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM at Highland Lighthouse in North Truro.

  • Critter Capers is always a great hit with the kiddos, especially if you have an animal lover in the family. The Green Briar Nature Center has always been one of my family’s favorite haunts. I know my kids miss it a lot now that we’ve been away from the area for a couple of months! Check it out at 10:30 AM at Green Briar Nature Center in East Sandwich.

  • Fish Printing is a wonderful way to learn about nature and do something that combines art and nature! The special treat is that you also come home with a memory! 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary in South Wellfleet.

  • Seashore Ramble 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM I love the description of Seashore ramble: Explore the beach at low tide with a friendly naturalist. Our walk to the beach will take us through five different sanctuary habitats, and we’ll use dip nets and magnifiers to search for swimming, flying, and burrowing wildlife along the way. For ages 4 and older with adult. Pre-registration required. Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, South Wellfleet.

  • Family Farm Dinners at Coonamessett Farm 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM. I love Coonamessett Farm. I love Ron’s newsletters, his wonderful farm and how family friendly it is! We’re excited to get out to the Farm to visit, one of these weekends, after the Labor Day Holiday! I would love to be close enough to get out to one of these dinners! Coonamessett Farm in E. Falmouth.
