MOTT recognizes Cape family's commitment to hospitality
On September 20, William, Debra and Steve Catania of the Catania Hospitality Group
received the Larry D. Meehan Award at the 25th annual Governor's Conference on Travel and Tourism at the Big E in Springfield, MA.
The award is named for Larry D. Meehan whose 32-year career was spent promoting Massachusetts as a premiere vacation destination.
William, Debra and Steve are the children of V. J. Catania who began the family business in 1973 with one Hearth 'n Kettle location. Today, Catania Hospitality Group owns and operates six Hearth 'n Kettle restaurants, the Cape Codder Resort & Spa in Hyannis, the Dan'l Webster Inn & Spa in Sandwich and the John Carver Inn & Spa in Plymouth.
"Larry has been a friend of mine for over 35 years. There is no greater honor for us than to be recognized for our contributions in tourism for the state of Massachusetts by receiving this award in his name," said Debra Catania.
The Larry D. Meehan Award honors people who have made an important contribution to the promotion of the Commonwealth as a tourism and travel destination.
