Yarmouth police seek suspect in attempted early AM burglary

Suspect reportedly tried to break into occupied home at 3:46 a.m.

BASS RIVER - Yarmouth police are searching for the suspect who attempted to break into a River Street home at 3:46 a.m. Tuesday morning. According to a Yarmouth police release, officers were dispatched to the Bass River neighborhood after an elderly resident reported hearing a window break.

The woman told police she turned the lights on and called 911 as soon as she heard the breaking glass. Officer Matthew Sheehan discovered a freshly broken window and pry marks on a sill, according to police. The suspect did not gain access to the home.

K9 Officer Michael Kramer and his partner Kosmo were requested at the scene and were able to start a track at the window, but were unable to locate the suspect, police said.

Yarmouth police remind residents to keep doors and windows locked and to keep lights on at night. Residents are encouraged to call 911 to report any suspicious activity or sounds.
