FALMOUTH - Less than 24 hours after the First Citizens' Federal Credit Union on Main Street was robbed, Falmouth police have a suspect in custody. According to Capt. Brian Reid, police were able to positively identify the suspect, 56-year-old Joseph Monteiro of Teaticket, and obtain a warrant for his arrest.
Monteiro is alleged to have entered the bank at 352 Main Street Thursday afternoon around 4:30 p.m., robbed the bank and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
During a search of Monteiro's vehicle and Teaticket home, police seized clothing worn during the robbery and $2,700 in cash.
No one was injured during the robbery. Police did not indicate if Monteiro was armed during the robbery or what the charges will be. Monteiro will be arraigned in Falmouth District Court Friday.
Monteiro had been arrested by Falmouth police during a disorderly disturbance call in March on an open arrest warrant.
