Brewster water main break leaves 15 homes without water

Crews working to restore service, make road passable

BREWSTER - A crew installing gas service on Stony Brook Road in Brewster struck a water main Wednesday disrupting service to the area of Herring Brook Lane.  According to a Brewster police release, 15 homes were left without water as a result of the break.

In addition to stopping service to the dozen plus homes, the water break washed out a portion of the roadway.

Brewster DPW is on scene working to restore water to the residents and create a temporary fix to make the roadway passable until tomorrow. Water service is expected to be restored by 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to Brewster police.

DPW crews will return to the area on Thursday to permanently fix the roadway.
