Yarmouth Police Blotter: 12/15/14 to 12/22/14

Twenty arrests (four for domestic disturbances) and five drug overdoses
Yarmouth police activity for 12/15/14 to 12/22/14.

Over the seven-day period of Monday, December 15, 2014 to Monday, December 22, 2014, the officers of the Yarmouth Police Department responded to 907 calls for service.

During the week there were 10 domestic disturbances (one protective custody, 4 arrests), one reported rape, 5 general disturbances (2 arrests, one of which was a D-Y), one assault and battery (criminal summons), one assault (one arrest), 4 reports of harassment and 2 threats to commit a crime. There was one bomb threat made to the Dollar Tree Store on Station Ave. A K-9 unit was deploy for the bomb threat and one one other occasion.

Officers investigated 25 suspicious motor vehicles (one tow), 15 suspicious persons and 6 reports of suspicious activity (one protective custody). Officers attempted to serve 10 warrants (five arrests), 3 summons (one in hand) and 3 restraining order/harassment orders (one made). Officers were called in to keep the peace one one occasion. There were 4 reports of malicious destruction and 3 drug offenses (2 bylaw summons issued--both at D-Y). Officers investigated 2 open doors/windows and responded to 24 burglar alarms (11 commercial, 12 residential, one school). Officers were requested on 10 occasions.

There were nine larcenies, one motor vehicle break-in and 5 residential break-ins. One motor vehicle reported stolen was recovered. There were 5 reports of fraud. 

Officers assisted other agencies on 9 occasions and the Department of Natural Resources on 6 occasions. Officers conducted 3 compliance checks, 3 drug investigations and one hunting inspection.

There were 10 medical emergencies, one suicidal person, 4 psychological/emotional calls, 6 mental health outreach calls, 2 disoriented persons calls, 4 intoxicated persons calls, one report of abuse/child neglect, one runaway and one unattended death. Officers conducted 8 welfare checks. There were 5 drug overdoses during the week.

There were 2 juvenile complaints, 2 noise complaints, 2 reports of gunshots fired, one civil complaint, one unwanted  guest, one dumping/littering complaint, 2 animal complaints and 4 reports of injured/sick animals.

Ninety-nine motorists were pulled over (2 warnings issued, 3 summons, 3 citations and 5 arrests). There were 5 other motor vehicle-related calls (one tow) and 2 parking offense calls. There were 12 motor vehicle complaints (one tow, one arrest). There was one bicycle stop conducted.

  • Friday, December 19 at 8:14 p.m. on Lakefield Road during a warrant service
  • Friday, December 19 at 4:15 p.m. on Station Ave. during a motor vehicle stop
  • Thursday, December 18 at 10:48 p.m. on Route 6A following a motor vehicle accident
  • Thursday, December 18 at 8:12 p.m. on Elton Road during a domestic disturbance
  • Thursday, December 18 at 5:20 a.m. on Prospect Ave. during a warrant service
  • Wednesday, December 17 at 8:07 p.m. at Station Ave. and Regional Ave. during a motor vehicle complaint call
