Brewster residents wanted for town administrator search and selection committee

Sumner to retire in 2015, search begins for new adminstrator

The Town of Brewster is seeking one (or two) residents to serve on a new hiring committee. Long-time Town Administrator Charles Sumner announced  in the fall that he will be retiring in October 2015.

Brewster selectmen are charged with finding a suitable replacement for the man they called " sensible, level-headed and fiscally-savvy" in a recent release. Selectmen will soon be assembling a search and selection committee made up of 5 to 7 members. Of those members, one or two will be citizen-members.

The process of finding, interviewing and selecting a new town administrator is expected to take 6 to 8 months. During that time, the committee members will have a "fairly intensive" meeting schedule.

Brewster residents interested in applying for the committee should send a cover letter and resume to Selectman Patricia Hughes at the Brewster Town Hall, 2198 Main Street, Brewster, MA 02631 by 4 p.m. on Friday, January 23.

Sumner has been the town administrator in Brewster since 1986.
