Route 28 paving set to start in Chatham Tuesday

Main Street and Old Harbor Road will remain open during work hours

Paving on a section of Route 28 in Chatham will begin on Tuesday, April 21, according to Chatham police. The road work will be done on Main Street and Old Harbor Road between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. The project is expected to be completed on Friday, April 24.

The roadway will remain open through the work and no detour will be implemented, according to police.

As the project progresses, some areas along the paving route will be down to one lane. Motorists should expect delays. 

The paving will be done weather-permitting. Police officers will be onsite to assist motorists. Motorists may wish to use alternate routes during the project.
