Ben & Jerry’s of North Eastham is hosting an “Angel Scoops” fundraiser for the Masonic Angel Foundation on Tuesday, June 23rd from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. 25% of sales during that time will benefit Masonic Angel Fund chapters serving the Nauset and Monomoy school districts.
At 7 p.m. a “Vermonster Challenge” will be held. Teams of four will compete to see which group can eat the giant Vermonster sundae the fastest. Members of the winning team will receive Ben & Jerry’s gift bags. The entry fee is $100 per team, which includes the cost of the Vermonster.
It starts with 20 scoops
Ben & Jerry’s website describes the Vermonster as “the holy grail – a 20 scoop mountain of magic”, see the beginnigs on the right. The sundae is topped with four whole bananas, three cookies, a brownie, four servings of hot fudge/caramel, ten spoonfuls of walnuts, two other spoonfuls of toppings and mountains of whipped cream.
The Masonic Angel Fund program has served children on Cape Cod since 1998. This year the Orleans chapter alone, sponsored by Universal Masonic Lodge, provided over $35,000 in charitable assistance for children in Orleans, Brewster and Eastham.
Typical MAF benevolences include clothing, food, warm coats, footwear, eyeglasses, school supplies, program tuition assistance and more. The Universal Masonic Angel Fund is also the local vortex for the Beehive Food Program. Universal MAF’s work this year included 135 Laptops for KidZ devices placed with the area’s schools.
The Masons at Universal Lodge have challenged their Brethren from Pilgrim Lodge in Harwich and St. Martin’s Lodge in Chatham to the Vermonster contest. Teams of four will devour their sundae
