The Master Gardener Association of Cape Cod is currently seeking applicants for its 2016 class. Applicants must be enthusiastic and knowledgeable about gardening. The Master Gardener Program is a collaboration between community volunteers and the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension. 

Participants are trained by Cape Cod Cooperative Extension to use their expertise and experience to teach about plants, pests, food crops and ornamental plantings.

The program requires a long-term commitment. Following in-depth horticultural training, master gardeners will participate in demonstrations, seminars, exhibits and with children's gardens. 

Applications are available online here. The deadline for applying in Tuesday, September 15. Applicants who are accepted in to the program will be notified in November. There is a cost of $100 to join the program. Scholarships are available, according to the program overview.

Training begins in January and will be held on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Barnstable through the end of March.
