Bourne to hold special town meeting February 8

Voters to consider a warrant with 11 articles

The Town of Bourne will hold a special town meeting on Monday, February 8 at 7 p.m. in the Bourne High School Auditorium.

The warrant for the meeting has eleven articles for voter consideration.

The most costly of the eleven articles is Article 8, the funding request for a single-stream recycling capital project. Sponsored by the Board of Selectmen, the town seeks $1,100,000 to pay for the equipment modifications to town-owned collection vehicles, the purchase of curbside collection carts and containers for residents and municipal facilities and the distribution of educational materials related to the project. Article 9 asks for voters to authorize the acquisition of a 12-acre parcel to be used as a Department of Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWM) facility.

Articles 5, 6 and 7 all require changes to current zoning laws.

Article 10 is a capital project funding request--the replacement of an ambulance to the tune of $260,000.

The town is also looking for funding to resurface the Jackson Field outdoor track at Peebles Elementary School (Article 1) and to restore and preserve the Civil War Soldier/Sailor monument in front of the Bourne Town Hall (Article 4).

The February 8 warrant is available for review online here.
