Shades of the Trump-Clinton donnybrook descended on Cape Cod today as the Sheriff James Cummings campaign issued the following statement, published below verbatim:

Statement from the Cummings Committee – It has come to our attention that the current employment status of the Sheriff’s opponent, Randy Azzato may have recently changed.  We also have information that his personnel file and internal affairs investigations contain several negative findings against Mr. Azzato during the time he has been employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  As Mr. Azzato has run a campaign of negative and unsubstantiated claims against the Sheriff’s Office and on several occasions Mr. Azzato has stated he would have full transparency if elected Sheriff, we ask Mr. Azzato to provide an authorization/release for the media to view his personnel record and any investigative files that may be in possession of his employer, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
