Thoughts on Cape Cod Water Protection Collaborative issue

Letter from Ronald Beaty

Editor:

Regarding recent news articles about the uncertain future of a longtime County Government water quality agency and think tank, much of the information contained within the content of such articles about the future of the Cape Cod Water Protection Collaborative are pure conjecture and speculation.

Moreover,  the statements made by the several county officials  and the views expressed were mainly the opinions of individuals rather than clear cut Barnstable County government plans or policies.

It is strongly suggested that folks SLOW DOWN and lucidly study and evaluate the issue far more intricately rather than shooting from the hip as has obviously been the case up to this point in time!

I, for one, will NOT support a revamped Water Protection Collaborative which does not have the support of and/or input from all 15 Cape Cod Towns.

I especially will NOT support the creation of a new regional centalized wastewater/water quality entity with regulatory authority (or rate setting powers) under the auspices of the County or Cape Cod Commission.

In fact, I would actively fight against any such efforts!

Ronald Beaty

County Commissioner
