The Great American Eclipse of 2017 with Dr. Martina Arndt
Tuesday, February 28 at 6-7 p.m.
On August 21, 2017, a total solar eclipse will be visible across a huge swath of the United States. In New England, we will only see it as a partial solar eclipse. In this presentation, Dr. Arndt will talk about solar eclipses, what we can learn from them, and details of the 2017 eclipse including places to go see totality and how to safely view the partial eclipse from home. Attendees will even receive their own pair of eclipse viewing glasses to take home (one per person.)
Dr. Martina Arndt grew up in Massachusetts, majored in Astronomy at Wellesley College, and earned her PhD in Physics at the University of New Hampshire. She has been teaching physics and astronomy at Bridgewater State University for nearly 17 years. She has traveled the world on 10 different eclipse expeditions as part of the Solar Wind Sherpas. She is married, has a 12 year old daughter, and lives in North Grafton, MA.
The presentation will be held at the BSU Cape Cod campus in South Yarmouth at the former MacArthur Elementary School.
